Fireflies and Moonlight Reflections by the Country Lake
I stayed the night in a grassy area by a lake on June 11th. Unbeknownst to me, fireflies began emerging from the grass. There were fireflies to my left and the brilliant moon glowed all night to my right. Needless to say, I am tired today and have found a new place where I can study, worship Jesus, pray, and rest for a little while.
As I continue to spend time with God and study His Word, I discover so much more about Him—truths I wish all people on earth could know. He grieves when His children forget Him. He mourns the evil in the world, for He knows that sin and rebellion tear apart relationships—between Him and His people, within families, and even across nations. When pride and defiance take hold, destruction often follows, as history has shown. There is justice and consequence, but His heart remains full of love, longing for His people to turn back to Him.
The innumerable characteristics of God are truly splendid and amazing. As the Creator of all things, He offers a unique perspective and evokes a childlike wonder, even for creatures like fireflies. I stand in awe of His creation and wait upon Him.
Though there were many fireflies, I was not able to capture an image of one.
